Dow Appoints President and COO

Article-Dow Appoints President and COO

The Dow Chemical Co. has appointed James (Jim) R. Fitterling to the position of president and chief operating officer.

In his new role, Fitterling will continue to report to Dow chairman and chief executive officer Andrew N. Liveris.

Fitterling, who has worked with Dow for 32 years, previously held the position of vice chairman and chief operating officer. In his new role, he will continue to have executive accountability for all of Dow’s businesses excluding Dow AgroSciences.

Fitterling will also play a central role in helping drive the successful completion of the proposed DowDuPont merger and subsequent establishment of its three independent public companies.

Announcing the appointment, Liveris said, “Jim has been a tremendous leader for Dow for more than three decades and has spent his entire career at our great company. He is performing a critical role for our team in the work that is already well underway on the completion of the DowDuPont merger and the subsequent establishment of the three previously announced independent public companies that will be created at the end of the process. His appointment to the position of president is well deserved and a reflection of his abilities and commitment to our company. In Jim and our chief financial officer Howard Ungerleider, I am pleased to have two outstanding leaders as part of the senior leadership team at Dow leading this historic transformation of our company and our industry. I look forward to working closely with both of them to bring that transformation to completion."
