The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reported that its August 2010 Booked Orders Index was 126, down 5 points or 4% from July 2010’s Index of 131, but up 25% from the August 2009 Index of 101. August Booked Orders Indexes were 224 for bulk handling equipment* and 92 for unit handling equipment*.

The 12-month Index for Booked Orders was 123 in August, an increase of 3% from July 2010’s 12-month Index of 120.

The CEMA Billed Sales (shipments) Index was 161 in August, an increase of 13% from July 2010’s Index of 142, and an increase of 55% from the August 2009 Index of 104. August Billed Sales Indexes were 219 for bulk handling equipment* and 157 for unit handling equipment*.

The 12-month Index for Billed Sales was 118 in August, an increase of 4% from July 2010’s 12-month Index of 113.
  
* Since bulk handling systems booked and billed sales are reported quarterly and are averaged back to the two preceding months, the booked and billed indexes for non-quarter ending months for bulk handling equipment and Category X, total of all categories, are adjusted quarterly.
