A blaze ignited in a piece of drying equipment at the Pinnacle Pellet plant in Williams Lake, BC on Wednesday afternoon, several local news organizations reported.

Emergency personnel were called to the pellet production facility, who observed smoke and dust coming from the building as the fire burned. Workers at the Pinnacle plant initiated efforts to put out the fire before crews arrived.

“When we arrived on scene Pinnacle Pellet plant employees were activating their deluge system for a fire that had occurred in their dryer system,” Williams Lake Fire Department Chief Erick Peterson told MyCaribooNow.com. Flames spread from the drying system to piping and fans inside the facility, Chief Peterson said in the news website’s coverage. The fire was out by mid-afternoon.

The firefighting effort lasted about 70 minutes, according to an account by the Williams Lake Tribune.

Officials are working with Pinnacle Pellet to determine the cause of the fire, MyCaribooNow.com said. No injuries were reported during the incident.
