Oil Refinery Fire Causes Worker Injuries

The injured were airlifted to the hospital.

US oil refiner Phillips 66 said two employees were injured in a fire that occurred at the Borger, TX complex at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time on Monday, April 1.

Emergency responders and the Borger Fire Department were immediately notified to suppress the fire.

Borger city officials said the two workers were life-flighted with injuries from the fire and are receiving medical attention at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

Officials say the fire started in one of the processing plants at the complex.

As of 1:00 p.m., officials said the fire was extinguished.

Reuters reported that, in an email, Phillips 66 stated that "the refinery continues to operate," and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
