The Bepex/Rietz Extructor has a single horizontal shaft with a cantilevered design to isolate the bearing and drive components from the product. The heavy-duty rotor design uses a horizontal shaft with hammers keyed and seal welded for sanitation. The hammers draw the feed material into the body housing and convey the product towards the discharge sizing plate. The hammers are evenly spaced and rotated on the shaft. As the product is pulled into the lower portion of the rotor, it is crushed when the hammers sweep past stationary, close clearance anvils mounted on the interior wall. An orifice plate at the discharge controls the final size of the product. Extructors feature sanitary construction, are easy to clean and maintain, and are accepted for use in USDA/FDA-inspected plants. Slow-speed, high-torque grinding results in minimal heat generation in the product. Extructors are primarily designed for the crushing and grinding of large frozen blocks or barrels of bulk materials down to roughly 3/16 in.
