Lindor Supplies Drum Mixers to Indian Snack Plants

Mixing technology provider Lindor supplied four drum mixers to India’s largest manufacturer of sweets and snacks, Haldiram’s, for use in production of Namkeen, a snack traditionally consumed when drinking Chai tea.

Produced from a number of ingredients including baked lentils, chickpeas, fried vermicelli, potato sticks, and extruded snacks, production of Namkeen is challenging because the delicate ingredients must remain intact while they are mixed.

The Lindor L100 drum mixers offer a solution to homogeneously mix the ingredients in under two minutes. Because of its closed system and improved homogeneity, Lindor said 10% less masala powder, the most expensive ingredient in Namkeen, is needed to flavor the snacks

The first drum mixer was in a standard design, without options, to carry out trials. Others quickly followed and drum mixers were chosen with valuable options to further increase hygiene and productivity such as fluid injection, weighing cells, QSR (inlet and outlet for quick and thorough cleaning) and CIP (cleaning in place).

Haldiram’s operates plants in Nagpur, New Delhi, Kolkata, Bikaner, and a production site in England.
