Firefighters responded to an industrial fire at the Smithfield Foods feed mill in Laurinburg, NC on Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, crews determined that the blaze was in a dust hopper on the building’s exterior, the Laurinburg Exchange reported.

“We are pretty sure it started from motor failure,” Laurinburg Fire Department Engineer Richard Bobbitt told the newspaper, adding that there was “very little damage” to the hopper.

The official said firefighters were at the feed mill for about an hour.

Smithfield’s facility, located on Andrew Jackson Highway in Laurinburg, produces feed for hog production.
