Dust Collector Fire at Metal Forming Plant in Michigan

Fire crews were dispatched to a blaze at the Metal Standard Corporation metal forming and fabrication plant in Holland, MI on Tuesday. Officials said the fire likely began in a dust collector at the site

“Fire appears to have originated in the dust collection system and ignited filter materials,” Holland Department of Public Safety – Fire Services tweeted. “Fire was under control upon arrival.” 

The local fire department was called to the scene around 12:30 p.m., news radio station WHTC reported.

No injuries were recorded during the response, according to the fire department’s tweet. 

Metal Standard’s 40,000-sq-ft facility specializes in tube fabrication, wire forming, and low volume sheet metal parts, according to the company’s website. Products made at the Holland plant are used in the furniture, medical, and educational industries.
