Conagra Brands plans to cut about 150 positions at its Chef Boyardee plant in Milton, PA amid plans by the company to scale back production at the site, several Milton-area news organizations reported.

“We announced to our Milton team a decision to reduce production so we can operate as efficiently as possible and stay competitive. We expect this change to impact approximately 140-150 positions at the facility,” a statement by Conagra spokesperson Daniel Hare in the Sunbury Daily Item said. “We do not have a definitive timeline at this point, but anticipate it happening in the next several months.”

The cuts are mostly coming from third-shift workers, the firm said.

“We’re in the process of finalizing the details,” said Hare in the Daily Item. “We will do so in the next several months. When we have to make a difficult decision like this, we have to give people as much advance information as possible.”

The Milton plant is the only facility in the country that produces Chef Boyardee brand products.
