Pneumatic Conveying Spotlight - April 08

pbs0804p70a.jpgPneumatic Conveying Systems and Components
Booth 1214 – This company offers a complete line of pneumatic conveying systems and components—including dense- and dilute-phase systems, railcar and truck unloading—that can handle even the most abrasive and fragile materials. Systems are custom built after an analysis of the process, facility, or procedure in question and after the material is tested in a fully equipped test lab.

pbs0804p70b.jpgPneumatic Conveying and Dedusting Solutions
Booth 1343 – This company provides pneumatic conveying and dedusting technologies for pellets and powders. Among its offerings are debottlenecking methods for existing systems and complete turnkey plants from the ground up. Dense-, dilute-, and strand-phase conveying systems are available, as well as rotary valves, diverter valves, and Pellbows. Applications include railcar loading and unloading systems, pneumatic transfer systems, bagging stations, truck loading and unloading systems, and extruder feeders.

pbs0804p70c.jpgDense-Phase Pneumatic Conveying Systems
These dense-phase pneumatic conveying systems utilize small amounts of high-pressure, low-velocity air to gently transfer controlled slugs of dry powdered or granular materials through enclosed convey lines. The systems minimize component wear and reduce product breakage, degradation, and segregation. They are suitable for abrasive, fragile, friable, or mixed-batch materials. The exclusive air management system enhances efficiency by injecting air into the convey line via strategically placed air assists. This technology lowers overall resistance, decreases air pressure requirements, and improves material flow.

pbs0804p70g.jpgVacuum Conveyor Systems
Booth 2115 – With complete stainless-steel construction, vacuum conveyor systems have product contact areas that are made of polished Type 316L stainless steel for ease of cleaning and product flow. In addition, the vacuum receivers can be taken apart quickly without tools. The systems range from simple up-and-in units to more-complex PLC-based multiingredient handling systems that incorporate batch weighing capacity.

pbs0804p70d.jpgConveying System
Booth 541 – The patented Stinger conveyor transfers difficult-to-handle products. Using TransFlow technology to control the conveying air precisely and condition the product, the system works best with cohesive products such as pigments, carbon black, talcs, clays, and sterates. Difficult-to-handle products move easily in the conveyor pipe. Using the conveyor with a bulk bag unloading frame enables users to unload and transfer TIO2, carbon black, and other hard-to-handle products reliably over distances of 100 ft horizontally, 30 ft vertically, and through several elbows at rates of up to 80,000 lb/hr.

pbs0804p70e.jpgDilute-Phase Pressure Conveying System
Booth 4402 – Dilute-phase pressure conveying systems use positive-displacement blowers to continuously convey nonabrasive materials or those for which higher material velocities and product degradation are not a factor. Used to convey material to a single or multiple destinations, these versatile systems convey material at low-to-moderate capacities and over short or long distances, achieving maximum flexibility. Product enters the low-pressure convey line via a rotary airlock feeder. A low-pressure (8-psi) blower generates the convey air to transfer the material through a convey line to the destination, such as a bin or tank. There, a bin vent dust collector filters the product. Automatic timers clean the filter media with pulse-jet reverse-flow air, dropping retained material back into the process.

pbs0804p70f.jpgOrifice Gate
Booth 3645 – The patent-pending Quantum-series orifice gate eliminates production inefficiencies and frequent valve maintenance. A valve designed to handle dry bulk solids in gravity-flow, dilute-phase, or vacuum conveying systems up to 15 psig (1 bar) depending on size and modifications, the gate features a full-flange weather-resistant design with excellent sealing performance, high durability, easy maintenance, and few replacement parts. Sizes range from 2 to 14 in. The gate’s blade and seal design allows the valve to self-clean on the opening stroke, preventing material from packing on the valve’s internal seals. This feature is critical to maintaining cleanliness and inhibiting material leakage across the valve or into the atmosphere.

pbs0804p71a.jpgCustom-Designed Pneumatic Conveying Systems
Booth 1304 – Dry, granular materials can be moved gently and reliably using these pneumatic conveying systems. In addition, the systems reduce product degradation and system wear. Each unit is custom designed to achieve optimum performance characteristics at the highest efficiencies. The company has developed 16 different pneumatic conveying concepts utilizing pressure or vacuum for handling a wide variety of dry bulk solids.

pbs0804p71b.jpgDense-Phase Pump
The Dense Flow system is primarily a high-pressure, low-velocity, dense-phase pump for conveying powdered or granular materials. The system can convey a wide variety of products, including abrasive materials such as sand and corrosive materials such as sodium chloride. Friable materials such as extruded alumina can be conveyed just as easily as nonabrasive products such as fire extinguisher powder. The system simplifies complex conveying problems.

pbs0804p71c.jpgConveying Magnets
Booth 2704 – Air-Vey magnets are designed to remove ferrous contaminants from products in dilute-phase pneumatic conveying systems that operate at 15 psi or less. These units are used to ensure product purity and protect process equipment. The flow-through area of the housing is engineered to maintain the same product velocity without an appreciable drop in pressure. These magnets install easily in horizontal, vertical, or angled positions with compression-type couplings or via welding in place.
