Ashland to Acquire Composites Resin Plant from Reichhold

Reichhold Holdings International B.V. received a binding offer from Ashland Global Holdings Inc. to acquire the firm’s Etain, France composites resin plant, Reichhold announced in an April 6 press release.

The terms of the transaction, which must meet regulatory approvals and is subject to a labor consultation, were not disclosed.

“The proposed divesture of the Etain facility is important for the finalization of the Polynt/Reichhold combination creating a leading global vertically-integrated manufacturer of resins for composites and coatings as well as other specialized chemicals, including intermediates, plasticizers, additives, and compounds,” said John Gaither, president and chief executive officer of Reichhold in a statement. “The manufacturing footprint of the Polynt/Reichhold combined entity will provide the ideal platform to service our customers.”

Reichhold, based in the Research Triangle Park near Durham NC, is one of the world’s largest producers of unsaturated polyester resins.
