The International Society of Automation (ISA) is hosting an invitation-only meeting of pharmaceutical industry executives on May 16 in Framingham, MA to discuss cybersecurity challenges impacting the automation industry and potential solutions, the organization announced Tuesday.

“In this strategic conversation, we hope to educate each other to the concerns regarding threats and risk mitigation, and identify corporate challenges toward an ongoing interactive network,” said ISA executive director and chief executive officer Patrick J. Gouhin in a statement. “The dialogue will aim to focus on the collective interests/challenges of the industry as a whole, and what can be done to ensure a safe, secure, efficient and productive sector, as it relates to the future of automation and its impact on business for years to come.”

The meeting, “Pharmaceutical Cybersecurity Convocation: A Critical Executive Dialogue,” is scheduled to take place at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Convention Center in Framingham, MA, in conjunction with ISA’s Food & Pharmaceutical Industries Division (FPID) Symposium.

ISA has developed standards to protect automation equipment from cybersecurity threats, known as the ISA99 (ISA/IEC 62443) series of IACS security standards.
