Hudson-Sharp Machine Company Celebrates 100th Anniversary
October 7, 2010
One hundred years ago, in 1910, David Hudson and Alexander Sharp founded Hudson-Sharp Machine Co. when they took over the shop and foundry of the Sectional Roll Co. and renamed it. Today, as a worldwide leader in plastic bag making machinery, pouch making equipment, and re-closable packaging solutions, Hudson-Sharp is an international corporation with manufacturing and sales located around the globe.
To mark the event, the company hosted a celebratory dinner for its current and former associates on Sept. 10. The crowd heard speeches from Hudson-Sharp executives recapping the company’s successful past and outlining future plans.
“It is a significant milestone to reach 100 years in business, and Hudson-Sharp is privileged to be a longstanding and respected part of the Green Bay community,” said Uli Unterriker, vice president, sales & marketing, Americas. “Now, being part of Thiele Technologies and the Barry Wehmiller group, we are positioned to continue as a leader in our industry well into the future.”
Hudson-Sharp was acquired by Minneapolis-based Thiele Technologies, a leading manufacturer of high-speed integrated packaging equipment solutions, in 2009. Thiele’s president, Larry Smith, spoke at the dinner. According to Smith, “Everyone at Hudson-Sharp should feel proud of their contribution to this longstanding, successful company. There are exciting things happening at Hudson-Sharp and we’re honored to have Hudson-Sharp as part of the Thiele team.”
