Jamaica Broilers Completes $2M Pellet Mill Expansion

Multinational agribusiness Jamaica Broilers Group celebrated the completion of a $2 million project to double capacity at the Best Dressed Chicken Feed Mill in Old Harbour, Jamaica at an event Thursday, the Caribbean’s largest feed mill, the Jamaica Gleaner reported.

Producing the firm’s Hi-Pro line of feeds, the mill’s capacity was boosted to 80 tn/hr from 40 tn/hr, lifting the site’s annual production from 270,000 tn/yr to 350,000 tn/yr, John Cerberry, general operations manager at the mill, told the Gleaner.

The company’s decision to expand the site’s capacity stems from increased demand for poultry in Jamaica, the newspaper reported.

“We have to invest to keep pace of the growth we are experiencing,” the firm’s chief executive officer and president, Christopher Levy, said in the Gleaner.

Over 50 types of feed are produced at the Best Dressed Chicken Feed Mill, according to the company’s website, for poultry, ruminants, equines, swine, and fish.
