Worker Dies After Fall into Hopper

Investigations into the incident were underway

A worker at Hanover Foods in Penn Township, PA died after he fell into a bean hopper at the food processing plant Tuesday.

According to York County Coroner Pamela Gay, the 59-year-old man was conscious when he was found and removed by other employees at about 2:40 a.m., but was pronounced dead at 3:52 a.m. after life-saving measures failed.

The Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Penn Township Police were investigating the incident. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

According to its website, Hanover Foods Corp. grows, processes, packages, markets, and distributes a variety of food products.
