A new, 55,000-sq-ft facility for metal additive manufacturing (3D printing) was inaugurated on May 9 in Hollywood, FL by Sintavia LLC, the company announced in a release Monday. The new facility also contains the firm’s headquarters.

“This new facility is the first of its kind in North America to offer large-scale AM production coupled with a robust aerospace quality management system,” Brian Neff, the chairman and chief executive officer of Sintavia, said in a statement. “As we grow, it will serve as a template for future vertically-aligned advanced manufacturing facilities around the U.S. and the world.”

Sintavia is a Tier One metal additive manufacturing company that primarily serves the defense and aerospace industries. $25 million was invested to install new equipment in the Hollywood facility, including medium- and large-scale metal printers, furnaces, and EDMs. The site also contains a large-scale powder management system, production areas separated by alloy, an inert gas farm, and a room for quality control.

The company said it expects the facility to generate $100 million in revenue each year from additive manufacturing operations at the plant. About 130 new jobs were created as a result of the opening of the plant.
