u15a8_170755.jpgRibbon Mixers & Continuous Blenders
APEC’s mixing and blending technology combines fast and gentle mixing with precise measurement and advanced automation techniques, to assure a consistent and accurate mix. The mixers and blenders are available in a variety of sizes in mild or stainless steel with standard or food grade construction. Ribbon mixers use a double ribbon agitator mounted with solid spokes to a solid shaft to simplify maintenance. Mixers are available in both slide gate and drop bottom designs. Continuous blenders offer low RPM, low shear, and are gentle on extruded or pelleted products. Customization is available to meet specific requirements and improve process performance. u15b7_170757.jpgCone Central Shaft Mixer-Dryer
The Condry cone central shaft vacuum mixer-dryer offers high mixing accuracy and low shear force to the products being mixed or dried on powders, pastes, and slurries. The heated agitator design provides a large heat transfer surface that greatly reduces drying times. Many different processing tasks can be carried out simultaneously to include drying, mixing, heating/cooling, de-aeration, crystallization, granulation, agglomeration, and the injection of liquids or gases directly into the batch during processing in a totally enclosed safe environment. Typical applications range from plastics, spices, adhesives, and soap powders, food premixes, to shampoos, toothpastes, gelatins, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. u1590_170758.jpgPowder-Liquid Blending Equipment
Minimizing air entrainment, increasing repeatability, improving operator ergonomics, and eliminating waste are all challenges facing today’s processors. This wide range of sanitary mixing and blending equipment helps resolve these issues, easily drawing powders into liquids. The mixing equipment covers the range from simple eductors for easy-to-disperse solids, through inline blending, up to a complete skid system with integral high-shear dispersion and vacuum deaeration capabilities. u1598_170759.jpgFluidized Zone Mixer
The Bella XN double shafted fluidized zone mixer has been updated to include access doors that not only increase accessibility but also make it easier to clean when necessary. The Bella fluidized zone twin shaft paddle mixer achieves fast, high-capacity, low-shear, precision mixing of either dry bulk solids or liquids with solids. Regardless of particle size, shape, or density, materials are mixed with a fast, efficient, and gentle action with typical mixing times of 15 to 30 seconds. A weightless zone created by low-speed counter rotating paddles generates low friction without shear. This makes it ideal for abrasive products and fragile products that cannot tolerate rough handling. Even flakes or spray-dried bodies remain intact. The Bella mixer is available in stainless steel for food applications. Custom sizes, finishes, and materials of construction are available upon request. u159f_170760.jpgGravimetric Blender
The ProRate gravimetric blender handles pellets, regrind, and raw materials. Consisting of one to eight feeders and a central microprocessor-based controller, the blender is designed to continuously meter raw materials accurately into a central station hopper. Each of the feeders operates in an independent, continuous loss-in-weight scaling mode to insure accuracy of each ingredient. The desired feed rate for each material can be entered in as pounds (or kg) per hour, as a percent of the total rate, or as a percent of the virgin material. The controller continuously monitors the weight signals of each feeder and adjusts the auger speed to match the recipe feed rate for each feeder. Augers are available in five interchangeable sizes. u15af_170761.jpgMiniature Rotary Batch Mixer
This miniature rotary batch mixer blends bulk ingredients, adds liquids, and achieves 100% batch uniformity in less than three minutes, while heating or cooling the batch. The mixer features an internal spray line for liquid additions and a jacketed mixing drum that can be piped to an oil, steam, or chiller system. The unit is equally effective at blending batches from 100 to 15 percent of its 1-cu-ft capacity. Four-way mixing action rapidly distributes particles without degradation while causing the greatest number of particles to contact the vessel walls, maximizing thermal transfer efficiency. It is suitable for USDA or industrial lab or production applications. Internal flights lift batch into discharge spout for complete evacuation with no residual material, allowing rapid, tool-free sanitizing. u15e0_170762.jpgHigh-Speed Floating Mixer
With this mixer, materials (powders or pellets) are placed in a plastics bag inside the tank (there are three interchangeable tank sizes: 2.6, 5.3, and 13.2 gal). After mixing is completed, the material can be easily removed from the tank by removing the plastic bag. This method keeps the material’s dust and fines neatly contained and keeps the tank in like new condition with little or no clean up required, which makes it easy to change materials and equipment. The vibration of the tank allows material to “float”. This floating action causes material to be less concentrated allowing for the use a smaller-capacity rotating motor. u15d5_170763.jpgAutomated Bulk Material Mixing System
Designed specifically for fully automated introduction, transfer, mixing, and blending of multiple, sluggish materials, this integrated mixing system produces such homogenous blends that downstream production scrap is virtually eliminated. A lift-and-seal gaylord discharge system, with a dust-tight, custom discharge hood, introduces the material to the transfer bin. An integrated agitator and vacuum pump transfer system supply material to the high-volume material mixer. Within the mixer, a 16-in.-diam auger mixes material in a 17-in.-diam, 10-gauge mix tube. In-feed scoop blades at the base of the mixing auger, and broad-throw dispersion paddles at the top of the mixing auger, ensure a homogenous and consistent blend supply to downstream processes. u15be_170764.jpgBatch Coater
The MK IX Rollo-Mixer batch coater was designed to put two part epoxies (resin/hardener) onto substrates such as fertilizer, sand, etc. It has a completely different coating/mixing action that creates a dynamic rolling bed compared to traditional Rollo-Mixers, which create rivers of material that constantly divide and combine. The batch coater design eliminates the turbine, spokes, shaft, and internal dump chutes and cross chutes, reducing internal buildup by more than 80%. The MK IX discharges the entire batch in less than a minute. Units are currently being used for polymer-coated, slow-release fertilizer and are an efficient alternative to continuous coating drums that are expensive, occupy a large footprint, and require additional auxiliary equipment. The Rollo-Mixer is available in five designs and more than 125 models, ranging from 3.5 to 1400 cu ft capacity. Continental Products Corp., Osseo, WI 715-597-3106 www.continentalrollomixer.com
