Lion online training quickly prepares shippers for critical components of the new 2011 rules for shipping hazmats by air. Companies that ship hazmats must be ready to ship under the new International Air Transport Association Dangerous Goods Regulations (IATA DGR), 52nd Edition, which go into effect January 1, 2011.

There are hundreds of changes to the new edition; most notably are widespread changes to the packing rules and new rules for shipping "consumer commodities" (examples of which include paints, cosmetics, and small aerosols).

Companies that ship hazardous materials by air must assure that their products are properly classified, described, packaged, marked, and labeled as prescribed by the IATA DGR. Hazmat training is mandatory for employees who prepare hazardous materials for transport and/or sign shipping papers. Air carriers will not accept shipments from companies without proper hazmat training documentation.

With civil penalties up to $55,000 per day, per violation and criminal penalties up to $110,000 per day, per violation, it is critical that air shippers receive updated training on the latest hazmat rules.

In response to these extensive changes, Lion Technology has updated its popular Hazardous Materials Air Shipper Certification Online Course. This course incorporates the new changes under the 52nd Edition of the IATA DGR and provides detailed hazmat training on the critical rules for air transport. The cost for the online course is $359, which includes seven hours of interactive instruction, online exercises and tutorials, downloadable workbooks, and one year of follow-up support. The new edition of the IATA DGR is available at cost ($225) for students taking the course. Students can register online at www.Lion.com or by calling 888-546-6511.
