Fike Corporation has merged its UK-based explosion, fire protection, and oil and gas facilities as part of the company’s plans to double takeover in the UK and Ireland in the next five years.

Previously separate entities, the combination will enable Fike to provide protection for a wide spectrum of applications, including manufacturing process industries, public utilities, hotels and schools, marine and oil rigs.

The company’s facility in Cwnbran was doubled in size to incorporate other fire suppression solutions previously located at an office in Guildford. The staff at Fike’s Cwnbran site now numbers over 100.

Among the changes, Fike promoted the general manager of its Kent-based explosion protection division, Keith Avila, to UK Commercial Manager.

“All UK divisions have played an influential role in building an unprecedented global reputation and as we grow our presence even further, and drive sales of our highly-reputable safety solutions, the time is right for Fike to merge these divisions,” said Avila in a recent press release. “The move has also allowed us to increase our in-house capabilities as we strive to provide the most cost effective solutions.”

Headquarted in Blue Springs, MO, the Fike Corporation entered the UK market in 1985. The company’s explosion protection division in Kent doubled in size in 2013 to accommodate increasing orders from chemical, pharmaceutical, and food companies in the UK and Ireland, according to Fike’s press release.
