Ostara Buys Fertilizer Granulation Plant from Bruce Oakley
The company will upgrade the facility to increase production of its Crystal Green slow release fertilizer product.
Nutrient management solutions supplier Ostara Nutrient Recovery Technologies Inc. recently announced that it closed its acquisition of a fertilizer granulation plant in St. Louis, MO from bulk commodity and transformation firm Bruce Oakley Inc. The facility is located within Oakley’s warehousing and logistics terminal along the Mississippi River.
“This acquisition is a major step in our plan to scale up the production of Crystal Green, allowing us to respond to growing demand with significant new capacity in a central location to our North American customer base,” Ostara President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Parmar said in a statement. “We are also extremely pleased to partner with Bruce Oakley Inc., an industry-leading logistics operator with world-class infrastructure, services, and logistics to support us during this period of rapid growth for Ostara.”
Ostara has finished design and engineering phase of a project to upgrade the St. Louis plant. Work on the site is expected to be completed a year following the close of the deal.
“Once fully optimized, Ostara expects that output from the facility will increase Ostara’s current aggregate production capacity by a multiple of approximately 10x,” the company wrote in a July 16 release.
Crystal Green is a slow-release phosphate fertilizer.
