Chemicals and high-performance materials firm Arkema is moving forward on plans to purchase Fixatti, a manufacturer of thermobonding adhesive powders, the company announced in a recent release.

The transaction will support Arkema’s Bostik business in expanding its global portfolio of hotmelt adhesive solutions for niche industrial applications in the construction, technical coating, battery, automotive, and textile printing markets, according to the company.

Fixatti has grinding, polymerization, and compounding capabilities that can produce a range of high-performance, environmentally friendly thermobonding powders.

“Fixatti’s copolyester and copolyimide polymerization capabilities also present strong synergies with one of Bostik’s historic areas of expertise,” the company said in the release. “Following the acquisition of Prochimir in adhesive films last year, the excellent geographic and technological complementarity of this acquisition will enable Bostik to become a world leader in innovative and high-value-added thermobonding solutions.”

The deal is projected to close during the fourth quarter of 2020 following clearance by antitrust regulators.

Bostik is the adhesive solutions business of Arkema.
