Fire crews worked for several hours on Wednesday to knock down a dryer system fire at the Cargill corn milling plant near Wahpeton, ND, the Wahpeton Daily News reported.

Members of the Dwight Fire Department responded to the scene at about 8 a.m., finding the fire had spread from the equipment into the duct system, the newspaper’s account said.

“Cargill used steam suppression to knock down some flames,” Dwight Fire Chief Wade Griffin told the Daily News. “We cut into some of their duct work, located hot spots and extinguished them.”

The plant’s operations were not significantly impacted by the incident. Cargill worked to restore normal production at the site when fire crews cleared the scene at about 1 p.m. Wednesday.
