On Wednesday night, fire crews fought a fire at a chemical manufacturing plant in Washington County, PA.

County dispatch confirmed that a fire broke out at the Reaxis manufacturing plant in McDonald.

No injuries or entrapment were immediately reported by dispatchers.

A hydrochloric acid tank reportedly caught on fire inside the facility, sparking the incident.

Hazmat crews responded to the blaze in order to manage the potentially dangerous situation and mitigate any environmental and safety risks. With chemical fire posing unique challenges, authorities are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating their response efforts.

The cause of the fire remains unclear, with investigations set to follow to prevent future incidents. Such investigations typically scrutinize safety protocols, equipment integrity, and compliance with industry standards.

The incident may significantly disrupt operations at the Reaxis plant, which may face challenges in resuming normal operations. Contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures are likely being initiated to address these issues.

Evacuation and shelter in place orders were not given, though authorities asked residents to stay alert to updates from authorities.
