Explosion Rocks Grain Bins at Co-op in Iowa

An explosion rocked a co-op in Dunkerton, IA on Thursday afternoon, blowing the roof off of a grain bin at the site, several local news organizations reported.

Firefighters responded to reports of an explosion at the Dunkerton Co-op at about 4 p.m. The Black Hawk County Sheriff told NBC News affiliate KWWL that a person heard sounds of one of the grain bins exploding.

The Co-op’s manager told ABC News affiliate KCRG that employees were moving grain between two grain bins at the time of the explosion. The roof of one of the grain bins was blown off during the incident.

No injuries were reported, officials said.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
