Firefighters responded to the Hill’s Pet Nutrition pet food manufacturing plant in Emporia, KS on Friday evening after a blaze ignited in a piece of drying equipment, according to a local news report.
The fire started as workers were cleaning the dryer, Emporia Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Conley told news broadcaster KVOE. Some dog food was apparently inside the equipment at the time of the incident.
Crews were called to the site at about 9:15 p.m. and controlled the flames shortly after arrival. No estimates on the amount of damages, but KVOE said the dryer was damaged or destroyed and an unspecified amount of dog food was destroyed.
No injuries occurred during the fire.
