Two workers died after a solvent reactor exploded at the Sahithi Pharma Company in Andhra Pradesh's Anakapalli district in South India on Friday.

Five more sustained burns, with two having severe burns.

The fire broke out in a solvent reactor at a unit of the company, the district superintendent of police said.

A massive fire erupted after the explosion and many people are feared to be trapped in the fire, leaving many others injured.

Another report stated that 5 were killed.

Fire engulfed the premises of the pharma city.

Workers inside the pharma company ran out in fear while the management alerted the fire service personnel. Fire personnel from the Vizag Steel Plant nearby have been pressed into service to douse the flames.

Three fire engines were pressed into service and spreading of fire to other factories located in the area was prevented.

Some sources said that as many as 120 workers were inside when the accident occurred but another report stated that there were at least 35 at the site.

Further investigation is ongoing, according to officials. This is a breaking story with various reports having differing information.
