The producer of Dogswell and Nutrisca foods and treats for dogs and cats, Arthur Dogswell LLC, was acquired by Whitebridge Pet Brands, LLC, a maker of natural pet food products, the purchasing company’s owner, Chicago-based private equity firm Frontenac, announced April 18.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Whitebridge, headquartered in St. Louis, MO, was founded in 2015 after a merger of Cloud Star and Petropics. Dogswell was launched in 2004 to provide healthy, nutritional pet food products.

“We are very excited that Dogswell and Nutrisca brands will be joining Whitebridge Pet Brands’ portfolio as Dogswell functional meaty treat and Nutrisca grain and potato free foods are complementary to our other brands,” said the St. Louis company’s chief executive officer Olivier Amice in a statement. “Merging the two companies will allow us to leverage our combined structure to better service our distributors and retailers and accelerate our overall growth.”

Dogswell’s products are produced with minimal processing and incorporate wholesome ingredients.

“Natural, minimally processed food and treats, for dogs and cats, continues to be a growing and attractive spot in the market,” said Frontenac Managing Partner Walter Florence. “We are excited to be making this acquisition, which fits well with our strategy and allows us to further invest behind a great leadership team.”

Based in Los Angeles, Dogswell also operates a manufacturing facility in Joplin, MO.
