Would you like to buy the world a Coke? Consider Venezuela.

In response to a sugar shortage, Coca-Cola FEMSA announced that it was suspending production in Venezuela, Fortune reported Friday.

The Mexican multinational, the largest bottler of Coke in the world, said the shortage might last for months, the article said, but stated that they plan on continuing to do business in Venezuela.

The country’s biggest company, Polar Group, halted production of beer and malt beverages last month due to barley shortages.

Fortune noted that the announcement comes as “Venezuela’s economy appears to be teetering on the brink of collapse.”
