Snacks manufacturer Lotus Bakeries is launching a $62 million project to add three new production lines and 111,000 sq ft of space to its Mebane, NC production facility, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper recently announced.

“We’ve done the research and after considering the alternatives, we’re thrilled to expand our operations in North Carolina,” Michelle Singer, general manager for Lotus Bakeries US, said in a release. “Mebane provides our company a great location to manufacture our products while offering our skilled employees a rewarding and nice place to live.”

90 new jobs will be created as a result of the expansion. To support he project, the company will receive a performance-based grant through the One North Carolina Fund.

Opened in 2017, the Mebane plant produces Biscoff cookies, according to Lotus’ website. The location is the company’s first US manufacturing site.

Lotus Bakeries owns the Lotus, Lotus Biscoff, Annas, Nakd, and BEAR brands.
