UK-based producer of food ingredients, premium bakery and cake decoration products Real Good Food plc acquired an 84.33% interest in Welsh food firm Brighter Foods, a manufacturer of snack bars, the companies announced in separate press releases Wednesday.

“Brighter Foods fits well with our strategy to consolidate profitable well-run businesses in niche areas of the food manufacturing industry,” said Real Good Food executive chairman Pieter Totte in a statement. “Robin [Williams, founder chief executive officer of Brighter] and his team have achieved fantastic growth and stability in the business and we are looking forward to continuing that success story. Real Good Food investment will enable Brighter Foods to expand and improve its capacity and product range even further. We are excited about the future prospects.”

The total consideration price of the transaction is £9 million, or about $11.2 million, paid to Brighter in two installments. Brighter Foods’ Williams will remain in his current position and production will continue at the firm’s Tywyn, Wales manufacturing plant, according to Real Good Foods’ release.

“Our rate of growth has exceeded expectations and we’re proud of that. We still have lots of work to do – to innovate, grow, and deliver the excellent quality and service that has established Brighter Foods as the go-to company in the snack bar sector. We are really excited about the future,” said Williams in Brighter’s press announcement.
