Poultry products supplier House of Raeford opened its new feed mill in Simsboro, LA this week, completing a project to replace an existing mill erected in the 1950s. Capable of producing 12,500 tn/wk of feed, the new facility has twice the capacity of the previous location.

Whole grain storage was expanded from 60,000 bu at the older mill to 650,000 bu at the new site. The site’s pellet capacity will double, and its finish feed capacity increased from 900 tn to 5,524 tn.

“The larger inventory capacity will allow long, sustainable production runs yielding improved efficiency,” the company said in a release announcing the opening of the site.

House of Raeford will utilize the increased inventory capacity to reduce production days at the feed mill from seven days a week to five, allowing the company to perform routine preventative maintenance on the mill and its feed haul fleet.
