Nestle Austria is closing a food products factory in Linz, Austria by March 2018, impacting some 127 local plant employees, Reuters and European Supermarket Magazine (ESM) reported Tuesday.

Shifting consumer trends are responsible for company officials’ decision to shutter the plant, which has been operational since 1879 and produces 6000 tn of food products each year, according to the coverage.

The Linz facility primarily produces food products for the company’s business to business business unit, Reuters said, adding that Nestle employs about 1000 workers at 16 Nestle production sites in Austria.

Plant management notified employees of Nestle’s decision on Tuesday and said they are working to help employees through the closure.

“Our intention was to communicate our intention very early on so that we could take the time to develop individual solutions for our employees,” Fabrice Favero, chief executive officer of Nestle Oesterreich GmbH said in a statement quoted by ESM.
