Hygiena Buys DuPont Food Safety Diagnostics Business

Provider of rapid food safety and environmental sanitation testing solutions Hygiena acquired DuPont’s food safety diagnostics business, DuPont Diagnostics, to expand its food safety testing portfolio, a press release announced Wednesday.

“Hygiena now offers testing solutions to cover the full food manufacturing process, from sanitation monitoring to finished product testing. With the growth of our worldwide team, we can now offer even greater service and support for all Hygiena customers around the globe,” said Steve Nason, chief executive officer of Nygiena, in a statement. “We are excited to continue investing in new product research and development and further expand our product portfolio through acquisitions.”

The Camarillo, CA company, part of private equity investment firm Warburg Pincus’ portfolio, will sell the DuPont Diagnostics products under the Hygiena brand name via its entity Qualicon Diagnostics LLC.

Hygiena provides rapid microbial detection, monitoring, and identification systems are used in a number of industries, from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals. The company sells ATP monitoring systems, PCR-based pathogen detection and characterization systems, allergen tests, environmental collection devices, and other products.

All of DuPont Diagnostics’ business assets and products are included in the transaction, like the BAX system, RiboPrinter system, lateral flow system, StatMedia, and Deyhydrated Culture Media product lines.
