American agribusiness Bunge said Tuesday that it has entered into an agreement to sell its rice mill in Woodland, CA to Sacramento-based Farmers’ Rice Cooperative.
“As part of our portfolio review, we determined that this mill has limited connections to Bunge’s broader value chains,” Greg Heckman, the firm’s chief executive officer, said in a release. “We will work closely with the new owners to make the transition as smooth as possible for employees and customers.”
Bunge expects the deal to close by the end of this year following the completion of customary closing conditions.
Farmers’ Rice Cooperative currently operates two rice mills next to the Port of Sacramento in West Sacramento, CA, according to information on the company’s website. Those assets have a combined capacity of 2,000 cwt/hr.
