Barry Callebaut Adds New Line at Chocolate Plant
The move expands the company's Singapore plant, its largest chocolate production asset in the Asia-Pacific region.
Cocoa processor and chocolate manufacturer Barry Callebaut announced Tuesday that a fourth production line was installed at its industrial chocolate plant in Singapore, expanding its capability to serve customers across southeast Asia.
“We are very encouraged by the steady growth of Singapore’s food industry which would not have been possible without the country’s strong reputation in food safety and quality,” said Ben De Schryver, president of Barry Callebaut Asia Pacific, in a company release. “For us, this expansion in Singapore is also about paving the way for our business to be more efficient overall and bringing more innovations to the markets.”
New equipment in the line allows the company to efficiently manufacture chocolate blocks in varying volumes. The line was built to higher quality and safety standards than the other three lines in the facility, according to the company.
Opened in 1997, the Singapore site is Barry Callebaut’s largest chocolate production asset in the Asia-Pacific region. The company currently operates 10 chocolate and cocoa faciltiies across Asia.
Earlier this week, Powder & Bulk Solids reported that Barry Callebaut is launching a new online events platform, BC LIVE, that will host webinars for North American food manufacturers on chocolate’s role in food lifestyles like keto and vegan.
