Four Killed in Coal Mine Explosion

Four workers died and three others were seriously injured in an explosion at an open cast coal mine in the Peddapalli district, Telangana, India Tuesday.
The coal mine was part of the state-owned Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), according to reports.
The workers were placing detonators for breaking boulders at the mine when the explosion occurred. The exact reason for the blast is yet to be confirmed.
The four workers who died were hired by a private contractor. The injured workers were rushed to the hospital.
A senior SCCL official said that an inquiry was underway.
