6 Dead, 5 Injured in Sugar Factory Explosion

Six people were killed and five injured in an explosion at a sugar factory in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka Sunday.

Officials suspect a faulty valve may have been responsible for the explosion.

Technical experts from Belagavi were conducting an investigation into the incident. 

A statement from Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy's office said, “The death of the six people in the blast in the sugar factory is saddening. Bagalkot district officials have been directed to conduct a probe and submit a report. The state government will provide compensation to the deceased's kin.”
