110593.tifDust Level Sensing Unit
The Dust Sentry with adjustable IST (Infrared Sensing Technology) flashes a strobe light to alert you when the dust in your container reaches your preset level, telling you when it’s time to empty the container. You will never have to unpack a cyclone and filter full of chips again because you forgot to empty the dust drum or you didn’t realize how full it was. This unit keeps watch for you and then signals you that it’s time to dump the drum. It easily retrofits to any drum or container. It uses a low-voltage transformer (110 V) to power the sensor and strobe light. Oneida Air Systems Inc., Syracuse, NY 800-732-4065 www.oneida-air.com

Extended Rotaries for High Level Detection
These extended rotaries are used for top-of-bin mounting when the rotary is used as a high level alarm. These vertically extended rotaries are desirable as solid material will tend to be higher at the filling point and operators want to prevent filling the bin to the top and allow for a specified amount of headroom in the bin. For top-of-bin applications, the company custom manufactures extended rotaries to requested lengths, up to 144 in. The BMRX and MAXIMA+ genuine fail-safe rotaries feature a durable motor with de-energized operation that shuts down the motor when material is present to reduce wear and the operating temperature to prolong motor life. The extended rotary can be equipped from a wide selection of three-vane, two-vane, collapsible, insertable, and bayonet-style paddles. BinMaster, Lincoln, NE 800-278-4241  www.binmaster.com

110595.tifMetal Detector
The Super Throat metal detector is designed specifically for the inspection of free-falling products in vertical packaging applications. At the heart of the unit is the PowerPhasePRO electronics platform, which is available in fixed or multi-frequency configurations. The new detector benefits from an advanced detection coil system and new detector head geometry that delivers high levels of sensitivity with improvements being greater than 30% in typical food production environments. Applications include the inspection of snack foods, cereals, confectionery, IQF products, and any products packed in a VFFS bag making operation. Zero Metal Free Zone (ZMFZ) technology allows the unit to be installed in the confined space typically found between the outlet of a multi-head weigher and the inlet to the VFFS bag maker. Mettler Toledo, Tampa, FL 800-447-4439 www.mt.com/pi

110597.tifFlow Tester Software
The Powder Flow Pro V1.1 is an updated version of the company’s automated software used to control its Powder Flow Tester. Significant changes include a modified test method designed to achieve “critical consolidation” of the powder sample contained in the shear cell. Updated data graphics and improved test formats are also provided. The software is available via download free of charge to customers who have purchased the tester. With this new critical consolidation procedure, the shear cell trough turns in repeated short rotations while a constant consolidation stress is applied by the vane lid. This causes the powder material to settle into place, removing air pockets and achieving a “low-energy” state. With the powder packed as tight as possible, the instrument can then determine the powder’s failure strength by shearing the material in the lid against the material in the trough. The software also features improved graphing capabilities, allowing for additional ways to use and manipulate data. Brookfield Engineering, Middleboro, MA 800-628-8139 www.brookfieldengineering.com
