Honeywell IIoT System Safeguards Process Industry Operations

A digital system launched by Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) in 2014 has helped industrial plants reduce overall incidents by 40% and cut ownership costs by 20%, the Houston, TX-based company announced Oct. 11. The company’s Assurance 360 system, part of Honeywell’s range of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) product offerings, monitors plant assets to give oversight to system management and predict maintenance needs and risks.  

“With Assurance 360, manufacturers no longer worry about maintenance, support, and updates for their control systems. Honeywell assumes responsibility for outcomes as a trusted partner,” said HPS Global Director of Programs and Contracts Steve Linton in a statement. “These contracts transform how plant assets are managed, putting the focus on system performance and allowing customers to focus on operations.”

Honeywell provides two support levels to cater to customer needs:
- Assurance 360 Optima focuses on preventative and corrective maintenance, identifying the need for replacement parts in the event of a failure, system updates, and cyber security for servers and other assets.
- Assurance 360 Performa gives customers complete oversight of system management and uses data visualizations, planning tools, and targeted support to help users improve asset performance.

“With increased competitive pressures and tighter margins, an increasing number of customers are finding they can benefit from the predictive cost structure and certainty of outcomes Assurance 360 provides,” said Linton. “The continued uptake of these services is fundamentally overhauling the way industries manage their control system services and support.”
