Cartridge Dust Collectors with Explosion Vent
Gold-series dust collectors are now available with a high-performance explosion vent for applications involving capture of explosive dusts. The “X-vent” is manufactured to NFPA standards and is CE and ATEX certified for European use. The multiribbed vent delivers a high negative static operating pressure rating of –80 in. WC for enhanced performance, and is designed to open up at +1 psi (30 in. WC). Rated for 350ºF operating temperature, the X-vent is standard on new Gold-series collectors requiring explosion protection and is also suitable for retrofit use. Made of sanitary food-grade stainless steel, it has broad application in the food and grain processing, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries.

Collect and Convey System
Automated C&C dust-collect and -convey system captures nuisance dust from silo-filling operations and automatically sends it back to the source silo. Each unit mates an efficient pulse-jet dust collector with a dense-phase pneumatic conveyor and has onboard controls for automatic operation with no need to empty dust from the hopper. The C&C can be used to collect any dust. Because the entire installation is beside the silo at ground level, there is no need to climb to the top of the silo, which maximizes safety.

Dust Collection Cyclones
Custom-made dust collection cyclones operate without any filter media to clean, maintain, or replace. High-efficiency (HE) and high-volume (HV) cyclones are available in carbon or stainless steel with round or square inlets. A variety of mounting flanges, duct work, fans, airlocks, and other equipment are available to outfit complete integrated systems. HE-series cyclones provide high-efficiency separation of dust and particulates from plant and process air. They can handle high temperatures, high moisture content, and high airflow. HE cyclones are sometimes used as pre-filters to remove large, hot, or moist particles. HV-series cyclones are big enough to handle large air volumes without being ganged. They are intended for outdoor installations where physical size is unrestricted. These units often serve as primary product receivers at processing plants.

Modular Cartridge Bin Vent
While material is pneumatically conveyed into the storage tank, fine airborne particles are trapped by the unit’s large cartridge filter. This enables clean air to pass from the tank into the atmosphere. Timed bursts of air from a compressed air accumulator pulse the cartridge filter, dislodging any fines and returning them to the storage tank. The bin vent’s plenum features a built-in weather hood and specially designed diffuser that enables each air pulse to clean the entire filter. The unit’s modular design and low overall height allows the operator to perform maintenance from the tank deck without tools. The filter cartridge is easily accessed for service without tools. To further facilitate ease of maintenance, the maximum height of the unit is less than 3 ft from the tank deck to provide easy access without the need for additional climbing.

Dust Collection Filter Media
New conductive media for the PulsePleat product line help customers gain production efficiencies and manage static-electricity risks in their baghouses. The upgraded filtration media are suitable for use in dust collection system applications handling conductive, insulative dusts and powders where customers have determined that static electricity may be a concern. The media provide surface conductivity equal to or less than 1 MΩ/square as determined per ASTM D-257. They conform to FDA’s food contact guidelines per 21 CFR 177.1630 and help prevent product contamination. PulsePleat elements are engineered with increased surface area and are able to provide greater filtration performance, lower operating costs, and longer service life than traditional filtration systems.

Disposable Plastic Module
The second-generation MediaPAK disposable plastic module features the new taper fit closure (TFC) that offers a quick-connect positive mechanical seal providing a leak-free zone. The module also features patent-pending Posi-Track technology, which consists of an angled notch in the module’s frame that fits onto a corresponding angled frame to create a positive seal. The TFC appears on each side of the module. When two or more modules are adjacent within the application, the TFCs also unite to form a positive connection or seal. The TFC and the Posi-Track combine to increase efficiency and reduce air bypass, and they are available with MediaPAK PK-18 and PK-12 modules. The module, which can be utilized in both vertical and horizontal airflow systems, is ideal for applications where adequate indoor air quality is a requirement.

Spark and ember generation is a constant danger in production facilities where combustible materials are being worked, processed, transported, dried, filtered, or exhausted. Dust-collection filters, bins, and even complete production lines are the areas of greatest risk. These spark-detection systems can reduce the risk of dust fires and explosions in pneumatic conveying systems by detecting and extinguishing sparks and embers before they reach the collection and storage equipment. The new CC7000 system provides more expandability, features, and flexibility. The system is expandable to over 100 zones and is FM-approved.

Dry Sorbent Injection Systems for Coal-Fired Power Plants
Concerns about coal-fired power plant emissions have led to tightened regulatory standards, increased compliance requirements, and the need for more stringent controls. These full-dry sorbent injection systems mitigate sulfur and mercury emissions. Dilute-phase positive-pressure pneumatic conveying technology is used to continuously transfer dry bulk sorbent material from storage silos to injection ports on boiler flue gas ducts. Emissions are reduced by a chemical reaction between the injected material and pollutants in the flue gas. Each system is custom-engineered with features designed to prevent common problems and maintain production. The entire system is controlled by a PLC and HMIs tied into the plant’s DCS.

Vibrating Level Sensor for Dust Collection Systems
The Model PZP vibrating point level sensor can detect bulk solid materials with a density as light as 1.0 to 1.5 pcf (pounds per cubic foot) and up to 100 pcf. In addition, the PZP does not require calibration and uses a unique diamond shape single element that, unlike traditional tuning forks, is immune to material packing and bridging. The sensor uses dual piezoquartz crystals that respond to electrical excitation by vibrating, which results in the vibration of the sensing element at about 280 Hz. The PZP’s diamond-shape sensing element and electronics provides the sensitivity to detect very lightweight and heavier materials. This ultralightweight sensing capability makes the sensor well suited to dust-collection applications.
