German adhesives and materials firm Henkel recently held a ribbon cutting event to mark the opening of its sixth dry mixes plant in Tosno, Russia, a company press release announced September 11. Investing €10 million (about $10.9 million) in the project, Henkel said the facility will help it to meet increasing demand for construction mixes in the Northwestern Federal District.
“Russia is one of our global key markets for almost 30 years now, where we are supplying high-impact adhesive solutions for various industries,” Mark Dorn, corporate senior vice president, Craftsmen, Construction and Professional for the Adhesive Technologies business unit, said in a statement. “We especially see further growth opportunities in the construction business and thus continue to strengthen our localization strategy by investing into our development and production capabilities.”
Over 25 Ceresit brand products will be manufactured at the facility, which is located in an existing production cluster in Tonso. Henkel said the new facility was built with a number of technologies to conserve its use of natural resources and minimize its impact on the environment, including filter systems in the production area and automated equipment controls to lower energy use.
“The new facility with a capacity of more than 80,000 tn/yr will enable us to expand our portfolio of innovative construction solutions in the region while creating new local job opportunities,” said Dorn.
Henkel’s adhesives construction business, Henkel Bautechnik, has operated in Russia for over 15 years.
