The Foundation of the Food Processing Suppliers Association (FFPSA) announced the recipients of 10 $3000 Career Development Scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year. Winners of these 10 scholarships include family members of employees from FPSA member companies Marel Townsend, Reiser, J.E. Grote, Provisur Technologies, SPX Flow Technology, Rath Gibson, and Marel Meat Processing. More than 200 applications were submitted to the independent selection committee.

“The Foundation of FPSA is pleased to be able to provide these scholarships to the deserving employees and families of our member companies,” said Viggo Nielsen, Foundation chairman and president of Mettler-Toledo Safeline. “The Foundation is proud to continue this program and I urge all eligible employees and family members to participate in the 2012-2013 application process which will begin in early 2012.”

The Foundation of FPSA established the Career Development Scholarship Program in 2005 as a benefit to FPSA members. It is designed to promote the career and professional development of FPSA member employees who work full time and their immediate family members.

Since its inception in 1983, the FPSA Foundation has focused on supporting the growth of the food industry. In this time, it has touched the lives of well over 2000 individuals in the early years of their careers through its grants, scholarships, and stipends. Many of these individuals are now employed in food and dairy science programs in the nation's universities, in major food, dairy, and beverage processing companies, and many in FPSA member companies.
