Saint-Gobain Commits $131M to Increase Glass Wool Production

Materials supplier Saint-Gobain plans to invest €120 million (about $131 million) over the next several years to boost the production capabilities of its ISOVER insulation subsidiary. The funds will be used to expand its existing ISOVER production lines and add a new production line.

Saint-Gobain currently operates three glass wool production plants in France. The improvements will raise the firm’s capacity for glass wool insulation by more than 70,000 tn by 2025, enough material to renovate about 100,000 homes per year.

€20 million of the investment will go toward decarbonization technologies and furthering the circular economy, the company said. A treatment unit for deconstruction waste will allow the firm to use up to 80% recycled glass in the production process by 2025.

The company said the investment is part of its broader strategic plan to reinforce its position as a global leader in light and sustainable construction products and offer its customers sustainable solutions.
