Kimberly-Clark to Expand Capacity at Nonwovens Plant

Paper and hygiene products manufacturer Kimberly-Clark will invest about $140 million in its nonwovens production plant in Corinth, MS to expand the site’s capacity, the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) announced in a recent release.

The project represents Kimberly-Clark’s largest investment in its global nonwovens business. During the effort, 15,000 sq ft of space will be added to the plant’s existing footprint. New technology will be installed in the Corinth facility to support production of Huggies, Pull-Ups, Poise, and Depend products.

“Our Corinth team is excited about our growing role in bringing new innovations to life and supporting Kimberly-Clark’s future in the region,” said Vince Oberholt, facility manager for Corinth Nonwovens, in a statement. “Our highly skilled and engaged employees help make some of the world’s most essential products, and they have worked diligently to deliver results for the company, and strengthen our competitive position for the best talent in the region.”

MDA is offering the company assistance with construction and Alcorn County is in the process of negotiating a fee-in-lieu agreement to support the effort. 33 new jobs are expected to be created at the Kimberly-Clark plant as a result of the investment.

“Kimberly-Clark and its dedicated workforce in Corinth play an important role in millions of peoples’ lives every day, as the nonwoven materials produced at the facility are vital components for essential hygiene and safety products recognized and used around the world,” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said in the release.
