EGGER Starts Operations at New Particleboard Plant

Wood-based materials supplier EGGER announced Thursday that production of raw particleboard has commenced at its new manufacturing facility in Lexington, NC.

The start of operations at the site is related to the company’s debut of its new EGGER Decorative Collection on October 1, a line of decorative surface options that includes thermally fused laminate (TFL), lacquered boards, laminates, and edge banding. The Lexington plant will also manufacture TFL.

“With this major milestone, the exciting and challenging journey of this greenfield project will soon come to an end,” Bernhard Vorreiter, technical and production project manager for EGGER, said in a company release. “It is an emotional moment, and our project team is proud to have had the privilege and opportunity to build EGGER’s first US plant.

EGGER is investing $700 million in a three-phase project to establish its US manufacturing presence in Lexington. The new particleboard plant was erected during the first phase of the effort.

Based in Austria, EGGER currently operates 20 production plants across its global footprint.
