Sherwin-Williams Mulls Relocation of Headquarters

Paints and coatings manufacturer and distributor Sherwin-Williams recently started a process to look into potential sites for a new global headquarters and R&D facility, a September 12 company press release announced.

“The company’s significant growth and global expansion over the last several decades has resulted in a less than optimal configuration of headquarters, offices, and R&D facilities across multiple locations,” Sherwin-Williams Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John G. Morikis said in a statement. “Given the limitations of our current footprint, we are exploring options that will help us to accelerate productivity and efficiency, enhance technology and innovation, enable greater collaboration, support recruitment and retention and reduce maintenance costs over the long term.”

Sherwin-Williams said it is considering moving to sites in Cleveland, OH, where the firm’s current headquarters has been located since 1930, along with other locations in northern Ohio and in other parts of the U.S.

Some 4400 workers are currently employed by the company across several facilities in northern Ohio.
