Storage Tank Explodes at Colorado Asphalt Plant

A storage tank exploded and ignited into flames at the United Asphalts facility in Commerce City, CO Monday morning

Flames were reported at the site at about 11:25 a.m. while workers at the site work heating the tank “to get the right consistency” of material, a spokesperson from the Adams County Fire Department told The Denver Channel.

Firefighters combatted flames reaching as tall as 15 feet during the incident, a fire department spokesperson said in the Denver Post’s coverage.

No injuries were reported as a result of the explosion and fire, local news organizations said.
