American agribusiness giant Archer Daniels Midland is shutting down its grain elevator in Edgewood, IL, local news organizations reported this week.

“ADM recently decided to close its grain storage facility in Edgewood. We determined that we would be able to better serve our customers in the area through our facility in Farina, which is just eight miles away,” company spokesperson Jackie Anderson told Effingham, IL-based radio station WXEF.

Work to close the Edgewood site began several weeks ago, reports noted. The company added uploading and storage capacity to its grain facility in Farina, IL during 2018.
