Port owner and operator Associated British Ports (ABP) recently wrapped up a £400,000 (about $513,000) silo refurbishment project at the Port of King’s Lynn in the U.K. that expanded the site’s grain storage capacity by 25%, the company announced in a release.

The new silo can hold 6000 mt of grain, boosting the site’s total grain storage capacity to 32,000 mt. ABP said its new silo offers its customers flexibility as it also be used for blending and storage of smaller commodity volumes.

“We are always striving to provide the best storage and value-added solutions for our customers and this latest investment is a prime example of this,” Kim Kennedy, ABP Port Manager at the Port of King’s Lynn, said in a statement.

ABP currently operates weighbridge facilities and a grain processing lab at the Port of King’s Lynn.

“It was great to see grain coming over the weighbridge and being seamlessly fed into the silo, allowing our customers to benefit from the enhanced operational efficiency,” said Kennedy.
