Union Process Builds C-60 Attritor for Fracking
September 3, 2013
Union Process, Inc., a global manufacturer of particle size reduction and dispersing equipment, as well as related services for a range of research and industrial applications, has manufactured a C-60 Attritor for continuous processing of proppants used in the growing fracking industry.
Proppants are typically comprised of treated sand or man-made ceramic materials that are designed to keep an induced hydraulic fracture open during or following a fracturing treatment.
The continuous grinding C-60 tank is constructed from abrasion-resistant steel and has a gross volume of 79 gal. The tank lining is a special WellerCLAD composite overlay material that is also abrasion resistant.
The mill is driven by a 150-hp motor, and has a variable frequency controller that is installed in a NEMA enclosure. An LCD OIM (operator interface module) is programmed to display agitator RPM, motor amperage, and motor hp being used.
